Today we will review Vicky Kaushal’s film Sam Bahadur. The length of the film is two hours 30 minutes. Dainik Bhaskar has given the film a 2.5 star rating out of 5.

What is the story of the film?
The film is based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, who won the war against Pakistan in 1971. At the very beginning of the film it becomes known from where he got the name Sam Bahadur. In fact, he was given the nickname ‘Bahadur’ by the soldiers of the 8th Gorkha Rifles.

An attempt has been made to show the personal and professional life of Sam Bahadur in the film. Sam Manekshaw, along with his heroic stories, many of his mischiefs and pranks are very famous even today. He was an Army Chief who was not afraid to contradict the then PM Indira Gandhi. Not only this, he even used to call Indira Gandhi sweety. All these things have been shown in the film also.

Sam Manekshaw’s relationship with the then Pakistan Army General and later PM Yahya Khan has also been shown in a unique way in the film. There was friendship between the two personally, but they did not see eye to eye with each other on the battlefield.

How is the acting of the star cast?
Vicky Kaushal has tried to capture the expressions of Sam Manekshaw, but that is not visible in his acting. Vicky had played the roles of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill and Sardar Udham Singh in the film Uri: The Surgical Strike with such ease, here he seems to have failed somewhere. It seemed like he tried to put in more effort to fit into this role. Throughout the film it seems that Vicky is mimicking Sam Manekshaw. He looks more like Dev Anand and not Sam Manekshaw.

Sanya Malhotra has acted well in the role of Sam Manekshaw’s wife Sillu, but she too could not leave a special impact. Whereas Fatima Sana Shaikh, playing the character of Indira Gandhi, seems to be the weakest link of this film. Not only is her makeup and looks bad, she also disappoints in terms of acting. How are the songs of the film?
In this film full of patriotism and heroism, good songs would have strengthened the story, but the songs of the film could neither arouse the feeling of patriotism nor the emotions.

Final Verdict, watch or not?
Those who do not know Sam Manekshaw’s Gaurav saga can go for this film. If you are a fan of patriotic films, you can watch it once.
